I had an old pair of jeans that I no longer liked the colour of or the style of, so I decided to buy some dye and some studs and experiment!
So therefore, I firstly cut the jeans into shorts because the jeans were already high waisted so they would fit better and I did this by putting them on and marking with a pencil where I wanted to cut them to create the shape of the jeans. I then bought some White fabric dye and some Light Purple fabric dye, because I thought these two colours would compliment each other and I could create some form of tye dye. So I firstly dyed the jeans fully white which was a process of filling a bowl with some warm water and cool water and adding the solution whilst stirring well. Moreover once the Dye solution has dissolved into the water I then placed the shorts into the water for 45 minutes (ocassionally stirring or turning them over). I then let the jeans dry overnight so that the dye could set within the fibres of the jeans, then afterwards I wanted to add the light Purple dye to the jeans in a different way so like previously I dissolved the dye into some cool & warm water and pegged the jeans to a washing line, I then very steadily to not use too much at a time poured the dye onto the shorts only pouring from half way down. I tried pouring from different angles and pouring different amounts but each time I let it run down the jeans so the dye was spreading. I continued to do this until I felt i'd put enough of each dye onto the jeans and also dipping the bottom of the shorts into the bowl, I then let the shorts dry over night to set the dye.
Afterwards I washed the shorts to discard of any loose fibres and then let them dry again and this resulted in the dying process complete!
Moreover, I then had to apply my studs, I decided I only wanted to apply 15-20 studs because I felt anymore would look too much and ruine the detail of the dye so I used a faint pencil and did small dots where I wanted each stud to go and consider a small amount on the front and a small on the back so they were spread out.
So I placed some underneath the pocket on the left side and then across the back of the jeans and this was quite a time consuming process but I felt it fits in with the modern fashion as studs have become an effective component for clothing.
