More & more knitting

Here is my knitting samples which are for my quilt but i'm not going to use them all as some of them are produced twice so I can experiment a screen print/ colours/ techniques on the one i'm not using on my quilt so i'm bringing into it experimentation. I am also going to produce some smaller samples so I can show my full potential to experiment with colours and positioning with screen printing to reveal my favourite one to then produce on the knitted patch which will be included in my quilt.

Pakayla Beihn artist research sheet

This is my completed sheet by Pakayla in which I have included some free hand embroidery on my favourite piece by her and also done a watercolours painted piece of a transparent piece by Pakayla. I have been really inspired by her work because she brings nature into it too to either represent the persons personality been related to this form of nature or it fitting in with their facial features/structures.

Andrew Salgado artist research sheet

My completed Andrew Salgado research sheet in which I have also included a free hand embroidery on one of my favourite pieces by Andrew, I just need to include a sentence on this sheet of what I am going to take from Andrews work which is his ability to be messy but accurate with his painting, so I will use either fabric paints of a heat transfer of a painting I have done inspired by his work, or a free hand embroidery of a piece I have done inspired by his oil based paintings.

Development/Initial ideas sheet

On this sheet I am gathering ideas for my tracing to get produced into a screen print. I am looking at all my different designers and artists and combining their ideas and what inspired me to look into their work. I what to create at least 3-4 screens with different designs for my patchwork quilt and the different fabric I will be screen printing it onto.

Tracey Emin artist research sheet

Beginning my Tracey Emin artist research sheet today, going to collect more thourough research on how she constructs her quilts and the fabrics/techniques she includes, I want to present this sheet in an Tracey Emin style so i'm going to combine fabric and words in with the paper.

Tracey Emin

Whilst making my patchwork quilt and researching into designers, Tracey has been a massive inspiration throughout my project. From discovering her work to discovering the construction of it I have been fascinated in the way she brings meaning and thought to these quilts.
She also brings so many different techniques of embroidering and applique to add texture to her quilts, she has also within her displays in the past she adds pillows and a four poster bed within the display to show the full potential of the quilt.
I admire the way she use's words instead of a traditional patchwork quilt in which is a combination of material, patterns and images, she brings into it a whole different prospective by using words sometimes to do with sleep or just feelings.

More and more knitting

Continuing my knitting because I am experimenting with different needles and at the moment I have been using from 4-7 mm needles to see the difference in the pattern and texture. With this knit I am using 4 mm needles so there considerably small but create a really tight and neat knit.

Finished portrait of Cara Delevingne

Finally finished my portrait of Cara but I will upload a better photograph of it when I get a better camera seen as these photographs do nothing for the detail and colour of the canvas, but I will now do heat transfers and experiment with this canvas to bring it into my patchwork quilt.

Visual sheet

Beginning my second visual sheet and concentrating on my primary research, different ways to present my research and my inspiration. On this sheet I will start gathering and presenting ideas for my screen prints, free hand embroidery etc.

Knitting

I went to Dunelm mill recently to discover their wide range of textiles equipment and I bought two balls of wool to start creating the different patches for my patchwork quilt, I have spent the last couple of days searching for some vibrant multi-coloured wool and I finally discovered the above wool and its also quite thick to its an advantage to work with, so I plan to do a black screen print over the top and this will contrast with the vibrant background. I am also planning to start some knitting with the lighter pink wool but this thicker needles to give a different effect when produced.

Pakayla Biehn

This is an artist research sheet that I have started and yet to finish, its based on Pakayla Biehn who supports my theme for my quilt as faces but also is the perfect example of an artist who brings editing and transparent effects into his work, all his work is painted and is perfect down to every detail to show his interpretations of people.
