Beginning research for FMP

First few pages in my sketchbook for my final major project! For my project I am going to design a dress based on four of my favourite places and their national flowers as I want my dress to be summer and floral based and be able to relate to the upcoming summer fashion trends and to be aimed at a fashionable young audience. I want to bring lots of techniques into my dress like my patchwork quilt but make it sustainable and wearable. Here are a few of my ideas from the upcoming summer fashion trends.

Motivational Tuesday!!!!!!!

Haven't been keeping up to date with my blog as much as I should be doing which is not good! I've done so much and not been recording it and getting it up to date  on my blog! We started our final major project two weeks ago which will be going up in an exhibition and I really enjoyed my final major project last year so I wanted to create an even better exhibition! But I've been really unmotivated and not been able to find much inspiration and today I went over my favourite two projects, my patchwork quilt FMP and my remarkable creatures cushions and motivated myself and gained some ideas just by looking over old projects and what inspired me to do them. This is my last project before I go to university in September! I have an unconditional offer from both university of Leeds and Nottingham Trent university and an conditional offer from Huddersfield university so I can't wait to go and meet designers and step into the more professional world of textiles design and be in competitions and live breifs and everything! So here are my two favourite projects from the past to motivate me along the way.

Sheetwork on remarkable creatures

I have completed my first sheet with my five combined main artists on and the link between each of them in relation to my ideas and my outcomes. I have also started my second sheet today which is based on my 'mister finch' artist research as I feel this artist will influence my final piece the most and contribute to my ideas the most.

Ceramics piece

This is the rabbit piece inspired mainly by my artist research on mister finch and Donna Wilson I created in ceramics yesterday after first experiment on the small bowl.

Donna Wilson artist research

In my sketchbook I have finished my Donna Wilson research into her textiles objects, purposes, materials and techniques and now I am beginning my research on Vladimir kush in my sketchbook on the next following pages.

Ceramics

Today we did a ceramics workshop in which we learnt the charactistics of two types of clay and that been normal pottery clay and a sand like substance but which still acts as clay. We were experimenting in the texture and objects in which you can create with clay and I decided to create a small vase at first with curved edges which I uploaded a picture of but then the edges began to get too thin and weak and the fixture was beginning to get more wide, so I rolled my clay back up into a tight even ball and decided to create a rabbit so I shaped the circle as the head and then used two more pieces of clay to shape into the ears and because they were quite large I applied the heat gun for 10 seconds to harden the clay. I then used some material and done wallpaper to use a tolling pin sand press the detail from them into the rabbit ears which in hoping will look effective later. I then also shaped the face more to create hollow eyes and the rabbits snout and left to harden and to transform, I also needed to add colour but I didn't have enough time do I am hoping to do this in the next workshop.

New project!!!! Remarkable creatures

We are on our second project on our art and design level 3 foundation course and with our first project been based on experiencing the areas fine art, 3D and textiles, our second project is based upon doing the area you specialise in. This project is called 'remarkable creatures' and we have to look into artists and scultlptures and textiles designers and present our interpretation of the project title. So with thus I have began research in my sketchbook on Donna Wilson, mister finch, Vladimir kush, Josephine wall and Johnson tsang.
